What's Your Why?

Why do you do what you do?
Why do you get up and go to your job everyday?
Why do you run your business?
Why do you work multiple jobs?
Why did you take on a side hustle?
I bet you did it for them - the tiny humans you get to raise. I bet you want to give them the sun, the moon and the stars, right?
One thing I learned QUICK in the entrepreneurial space is that the reality you envisioned isn't always the reality you experience. When I found out I was pregnant with this babe right here, I was working a sales job. Driving around all day, taking orders on the side of the road, answering calls at all hours, and travelling 2-3 times per month. I knew I had to give this up when I became a Mom. The pro/con list was LONG! I had worked for years in the corporate world to snag a job like this, with a good salary, pension, benefits, profit shares, the whole nine BUT the minute I knew Mom would be my next job title, it all seemed insignificant. The next hurdle I faced? Running a business that ran me. Working around the clock. Not taking a mat leave with either of my kids and feeling guilty as heck about it. So I did what I always do - I pivoted in the direction I felt would give me the lifestyle I desired. I started a new business from scratch, just a few short years after starting my first business from scratch. Most people wouldn't have considered either pivot. The sales job was safe. My first business paid the bills. BUT none of that matters if I don't get to have white space in my day for the people who matter most. I wish I could quote Drake and say "started from the bottom now we here" but I'm still at the bottom, still figuring things out, but keeping my priorities in check. Where ever "here" is - I'll get there, but I'm willing to take the long route if it gives me more moments and memories.
